Dale's Story

Life The short of the long story.......... I have been in Las Vegas for 29 years.......the idea of living somewhere else is not an option for me. I have literally got to grow up with this city. I love it here. The rumors of sin city are a myth. For the same reason people in New York don't go to the Statue of Liberty, I don't go to the Strip...I have never gambled or had an inclination to... So.......High School Graduation.....A year and a half on the road with the band.......Drafted in 1970......out in 72......2 1/2 yeares on the road with the band again.......started school as a Music Major in 1974 at Northern Arizona University till 1976..... back to Utah....married in 1977......Graduated from (then Trade Tech) Utah Valley State college in Marketing Management......Off to Vegas.... Graduated UNLV in Finance 1980.....stopped playing music after my first daughter was born in 1982. (big mistake on my part) Started my career in Real Estate and Finance....evolved to Commercial Construction starting in 1984.......spent the next 7 years traveling all over the country building, designing and rebuilding commercial projects for influencial Las Vegas contacts.......Hair turned grey....got tired and burned out....came home. My second daughter was born in 1987. Spent the next 8 years in Commercial Construction but focused all my attention on my two beautiful daughters. (the best decision I have ever made) The time I spent on the road was probably the major reason for the demise of a 19 year marriage, but it gave me far more joy than it ever gave me pain. I have two extraodinary daughters. Both got on a horse at age 4 and are still professional rodeo gals. One is in college and the second starts Sept 06. Jessie is 23, Jamie is 18. In 1995, my only brother and one of the only people in my life I considered to be my true friend... died....my wife and I divorced and events in my life became completely displaced and unpredictable.......for every door tha...Expand for more
t closes another one opens...........we've all been through this.......life......(and I don't care who is reading this or what you say).....never goes according to the dreams you have...... Life is about lessons, events that happen, are the lessons.......listen very carefully...... The ups and downs are what makes life interesting......you can learn from bad experiences as well.....even better...if you choose to.......I listened very closely. Today, I am happier, wiser and more content from all the ups and downs I have had to face than I have ever been since I was in High School.......which brings me back to where I started and why I choose to go back to where I came from and find out if your life has been as challenging as mine. Concurrently, and after all of the events of my life, I never remarried, I am currently the VP of a very large Commercial Construction Company specializing in Tilt-up concrete buildings in seven states.........but the most interesting part is....after I divorced.....I rediscovered my passionate interest in music.......I started playing my drums again in 1996..........it has now become such an overwhelming part of my life that it is now a condition of employment. Having been here for 29 years......everyone knows in my business.....if I cannot play drums I will not work with you........no excuses. The bigger lesson for me has been.........what you do and who you are are two different things. I am very good at what I do.......but when I play.....it is who I am..........It is an undeniable fact when I play, I am happy.....I can't help it!!! Everyone has the power to influence.....your passion in life is the power to influence others. I AM A GRANDFATHER.......I AM 54 YEARS OLD.......I do not deny this fact of life......I accept it. I am going to learn how to spin my drum sticks and play in such a fashion that it inspires and thrills my grandkids....maybe I will influence them..if not .........they will remenber my gift.
